How to use it, because (lets be honest) you should!
If you have been to my home or to those of friends I have helped decorate (or gifted at one point or another) you will find an array of animal prints. Leopard, Tiger, snake print, shagreen, feathers, tortoise, you name it, you can find it. For me its the depth these patterns have, and the way they can create a high impact while taking up very little real estate in your home! They can take a beautiful room to the next level, and can work for the luxe look or the casual naturalist vibe depending on how and where you use them.
“Natural prints like tiger print or faux bois can read as neutral depending on the color way and add depth and texture to an otherwise flat space”
Where to introduce animal print?
These prints are so versatile. Used in a carpet or rug they can have high impact and showcase your solid finishes. Or if a huge carpet of tiger print gives you the heebie jeebies (I know, crazy right?! But hey, it happens) the easiest way to add some interest and embrace the wild side is in pillows or in a statement chai, bench, ottoman (you get the picture). They are an excellent way to add in texture and color without going full heart of darkness. You can try it out, see how you like it, and you can always layer. That being said it brings me back to my next love. Pairing animal prints together. While I was writing this I'm looking around my living room and am seeing my fabulous leopard print pillows with my favorite scalamandre tiger print pillow tucked between, our antique tortoise shells on the wall , a zebra rug in the office, and my faux bois lamps that I scored at Home Depot (Yes, HOME DEPOT they were $35 each and they are awesome, ok)!
